A big change for our polymechanic apprentices in Schaffhausen. This year, GF Casting Solutions installed a brand new molding machine Mikron VCE 800 Pro.

Recently, GF Casting Solutions installed a brand new GF Machining Solutions Mikron VCE 800 Pro in Schaffhausen. This molding machine allows our trainees to practice with different materials. Aluminum, steel and plastics are used to produce stand-alone elements and components for other products – including fittings for GF Piping Systems.

With this new GF machine, our apprentices can practice with different materials. Aluminum, steel and plastics are used to produce stand-alone elements and components for other products.

Making room for improvement

The selection of materials and the preparation of the machine are two important tasks before starting the production. "The time spent in programming the machines depends on what we produce, but it does not matter to me as I really like programming," says Elbonit, 19 years old.

"I prefer aluminum because it is smooth but at the same time robust. I really like to work with big blocks because this way I can apply many of the things that I have learned," says Egzona. 

"It would be very interesting to make something small, like a watch. It has many tiny parts that must be handle with impeccable accuracy - challenging but fun too," says Elbonit.
